Babywearing & Exercising

02 Mar Babywearing and Exercising

Babywearing is a great way to bond with your little one while you go on with your business. Being fit and exercising is part of your life. But, as a new parent it is not always practical to take a lot of time away from baby to exercise. Imagine getting a work out when you’re bonding with your baby, that sounds amazing doesn’t it? This is why babywearing and exercising work well together.

Babywearing your little angel while you go on with your business gives you a lot of time to catch up on yourself and your chores. Exercising is one of those activities in your life. Instead of confining yourself to gym equipment and routines, you can shed those pounds while you are babywearing your little munchkin. Babywearing and exercising can work well in the following ways:

  1. Easy: Babywearing your bundle of joy while you go on with your household chores will make you sweat it with a few extra pounds wrapped around you. In other words, baby weight will act as weights and help you get back in shape during your regular movements. Make sure you have an ergonomic baby carrier for an enjoyable experience.
  2. Medium: Babywearing your bundle of joy while you engage in a few stretches and gentle movement routines will let you shed a few extra calories while baby is close to you. But, make sure you’re comfortable with babywearing and following safety measures before you get a little creative with exercising while babywearing.
  3. Difficult: There are some cardio routines that are a little longer and pump up your heart rate, which you can follow if you are very comfortable with babywearing. Also, make sure you consult your doctor before engaging in strenuous exercise routine during your postnatal period.

The beauty of babywearing is that you are engaging in physical activity even when you are running errands and working on household chores. If you are in the exercising groove and want to push yourself (granted you are able to and taking the babywearing safety measures of course) you can. Babywearing and exercising go hand in hand and it is a great way to get back in shape and bond with baby. Be prepared to benefit emotionally by being close to baby and physically by sweating it out a little.
